Amara's first hip hop comp

So after months and MONTHS of practice and literally blood, sweat and tears, January brought Amara's first Hip Hop comp.  She was so excited to break out all her makeup and hair supplies and get ready for the big event. She loves this "tough" pic she took right after getting ready to head out!

Coach Tay was SO proud of her and she just adores him. He is great with the kids and really got them excited to perform. All the grandparents came as well as Carolyn, so we had a great little cheer section for her and the lights stayed on, so the kids could really see us all.

The kids watched another team from OSU perform right before they went on, but I could tell Amara was paying attention.

When the music started, she turned on her attitude and really pulled out all the stops. I was so impressed and excited for her--I could see she was really enjoying herself!

The routine was over so quickly--but a ton of the CCS girls stuck around to watch. Amara got to come up and sit with all the grandparents who came too and little sister who couldn't wait to see her big sister "star."

The team took 2nd overall. Each of them got medals, which made Amara's day, and after the flowers were passed out, we headed home.  It was a great first experience of the season for her and with only 4 more comps, i'm sure she will be even more excited for the rest of the season now.

daddy day with the girls

over the christmas/ new years holiday, our schedules were off. On one particular day, Eric decided to keep the girls and do some daddy daughter things with them.
They went to see the movie Big Hero 6 at around 10. Included with popcorn and silly photo booth photos.

Lunch at McD, then to the Naz play place.

I worked--so I wasn't around, but the pics were priceless and the girls told me what a good time they had with daddy.

Young family Christmas get together

With the hustle bustle of the holidays, we didn't get together with the Young side of the family, but it was still a great time!

The kids played (Colt, Kam, and our girls anyway--Connor was sick) ate, and opened presents. The girls enjoyed their ham and Amara showed her hip hop videos to the aunts and cousins.

We had a great time and the kids did for sure. No one wanted to leave :(  Its easy to see that with them all playing together that the age dynamic is great. Ages 6, almost 4 x2, and 2--Amara got to be the "leader" with kids looking up to her for a change, that was sweet to see.  Steph mentioned she noticed Kam following Cora around too--it gives the kids an opportunity to be leaders, which is so cool ;)

The Barbies and ponies were all packed and we loaded into our car for the trip home, hopeful that they would sleep soundly for us.

New Year's Day '15

New Year's day was PRETTY uneventful for the Youngs--all the fun from NYE caught up to the little ladies and they crashed all day. Never slept, just crashed...

until bath time. Haha. They snuggled up on the couch with blankets and towels and before I knew it, at 5, they were snoring. Eric got them some mac and cheese and Eric got Amara to eat a few bites, but that was it.  Earlier, Eric made our traditional pork fried rice, which was awesome! Mom and dad came over and shared it with us, but the girls really just didn't have the energy to do much.

The last time something like that happened was the first day of vacation last summer, after the drive down there and not sleeping much that night, they fell asleep in the hotel at like 4 or 5 and slept all night, so we shall see if it lasts...

poor Eric has a lot of girl to carry upstairs, haha.
