After the flower class in the morning, we headed over to the Anthony Thomas chocolate factory for their annual tour. To our amazement, there was NO line outside and barely any line inside--not to mention, the girls were greeted by the Easter bunny himself as we walked up to the factory!
We wasted no time kicking off our tour. The girls were more interested than ever this year to watch the process...I attribute it to one of their favorite episodes of A.N.T. farm where the main characters do a Lucille Ball-style factory mishap...but they could just be interested ;)
Because there was no line, we moved right on through and got our turn with the Easter bunny. The girls--especially Cora, marched right up and started hugging and high-fiving away!! They got some eggs full of treats which we tossed in the bag, before our 3-flight climb of stairs to the catwalk.
(We are finding it harder and harder to get one photo of the two of them looking at us at the same time)
Amara particularly liked the process of the wrapped buckeyes shooting off of the line into boxes. I admit, the machines are fun to watch--and it's always nice waving to the folks on the floor who always seem eager to engage with the girls.
The girls got samples of buckeyes and vanilla cream after the tour--Amara particularly liked the buckeyes (no surprise).
Daddy offered to run to the back of the factory and get the car, but the suckers from the gift shop didn't make it till he got back. The girls busted out their twisty rainbow suckers and stole some alone time, while I tried to snap a pic from afar.
The girls were REALLY good this year, and I think we all enjoyed it probably the most we ever have. I know it's just a matter of time till they are bored with it, but I love watching the enjoyment and learning they pick up from this little event.
