Winter gives us time for lots of crafts to be sure. We got Amara this sewing machine for Christmas, but she had to work through all her presents systematically, lol. When we finally got to this, she was ALL about it! It allowed her to do projects on her own without any real risk to her with needles, etc. She liked following the patterns and I helped her with the directions and I think had 2 pillows done the first night.
We got to cut the patterns, sew, stuff and decorate--all with minimal help from me. I'm not sure if this will be a stepping stone to a big machine, but I'd be ok with that if it did!
