After getting the tree, breakfast with Santa, and bringing up all the decorations, Daddy and Beanie decided to start in on our massively tall tree. Eric even commented, "I think this is the first time I've needed a 6 ft. ladder on a tree, and STILL can't reach the top!" he's right--
After running out to get lights (there's always one set from last year that won't work, right?) and tinsel--sparkly and lightweight on our tree, I dug into finding the lightweight and non-breakable ornaments for the tree. NOW i understand why all the old school ornameents were bulbs or blown glass they are light! We didn't put hardly any of our commemerative ornaments on it, for fear they'd fall on the tile, or meet their demise by dog or by toddler, but it looked amazing! I don't know how we'd have gotten more on there anyway!
Amara was the greatest helper--she had trouble getting the ornaments over the needles herself, so together, she and I just kept daddy stocked with ornaments as fast as he could hang them. She'd get bored with the process and move on, but overall said that she loved the tree and that it was pretty :)
We really got it decorated in pretty short order. Plus, when you keep in mind, the only fragile stuff we're putting out is what fits on the mantle, the most of the rest of the decorating was garland and lights. Not sure if all the inflatable ornaments will make it out this year--we were SO organized last Christmas and just haven't recovered from the move yet. At least it will give us a goal, and the neighbors get one more year without the Grizwold's living next door!
