One day, heading out the door to Miss Sarah's, I noticed a (pretty good sized) frog in our garage. Apparently, Eric and Amara had walked past him, but I saw him right away :) I ran in the house to get a shoebox for daddy and Bean to contain him.
I didn't know at that moment what we'd do with him, but I wanted him out of the garage for sure. We decided to take him to Miss Sarah's with him, and she enjoyed watching him and holding him all the way there in the car. She and I spent the whole drive there trying to come up with a name for him and finally decided on Mr. Spotty as we pulled onto Limetree Dr.
It happened to be library day, so Miss Sarah said they talked about him and watched him all day, they even made a craft to commemorate Mr. Spotty's visit to us.
At the end of the day, the toddlers let Mr. Spotty go--Miss Sarah said they watched him explore, but they told him to go and be with his family.
It was one of those things that happens that redirects the entire focus of your day, but what a fun learning activity for the kids. As a sidenote--about 2 weeks ago, we had ANOTHER frog on our driveway when we came home. We know it wasn't Mr. Spotty (unless he found his way back from Miss Sarah's) but maybe we are a bit of a frog magnet house?
