After the fun we had at last year's party, we decided to do it again! Beanie was excited to invite her school friends and before we knew it, we had a date, a list and were in planning mode.
This year though, Amara was such a little helper. She helped pick out some designs to make shirts for our friends, the snacks we made, etc. She really got involved.
The weather wasn't perfect, but we had fun anyway. Brandy made the games for us, and even though she had to work, Nevon jumped right in and ran the games for me: mini golf, pumpkin bowling, and the surprise grab box. We all had a funny moment when he realized his glow stick bottle craft was a dud. Fail. Eric ran home to get a quick craft and saved the day!
We also had hayrides--lots of them. They kids and parents had a great time--once we finally got to go! We tried at least 4 times...EVERY time I'd check my radar and yell "let's go on a hayride," the skies would open up and it would POUR.
Finally, when it was an all clear, I had 2 of the other dads make the announcement for me and the kids headed out to the field, too funny!
We had lots of good food too--hot dogs and smores, coney sauce and cheesy potatoes, baked beans and lots of sweets too. Reese's cake, fruit salad, candy, chocolates, all awesome treats!
We huddled in dad's new barn in between showers and played in the bounce house and took turns on the roller coaster when we could. We also had Steve come and twist balloons for us, so he kept the kids entertained with dogs, flowers, pumpkins and hats!
Our great friends and the kids were troopers through the rain, and I think everyone had a good time. Next year I want to step it up with a haunted maze through the barn maybe or something fun--each year they get a little bigger and raise the bar for me. Amara helped me make awesome shirts for all the kids as favors, we think they really liked them too!
