picking corn

When the corn came on this year, the girls had REALLY been anxious about it.  We'd yell "CORN" and talk about picking it with grandpa as soon as it was ready.

Tim and the boys were picking it and selling it each night and the next morning, so when they came one night, the girls had already had their bath, but they didn't care.
They got their long sleeves on, hats, and took off into the evening with grandpa.

Cora dug right in to the fresh corn--she'd already had a few ears, so she knew what it was about! I think the taste and temperature surprised her, not exactly what she was expecting ;)

She tromped out there with the best of them--only really complaining when one of her paths ended.

...and then Grandpa would rescue her!

They had a blast out there, even if only for a few minutes.  I hope they will remember these times with family "as a kid..." Lord knows I can show them the pictures!
