I've been very lucky to see some of mom's newer and older friends at her house during her sickness. Grace, of course, has been around and visited--it's hard because she's hours away.
Tammy came over and brought food, we hadn't seen her in years! It was sweet, but sad at the same time, knowing it only becomes important when we are at the end of life.
And of course Linda and Sophie and Barb, who not only helped her to radiation treatments but took her to lunch once a week pretty much all winter. They are the "church ladies" and they have helped mom a lot and I will forever be grateful.
