planting "Pokey" our ball Christmas tree

After the excitement of enjoying our first ball tree on the front porch in December, after Christmas it was finally time to get him in the ground.

The girls named him Pokey, for obvious prickly reasons, and it stuck--pun intended.

We picked a somewhat warm day in January--lots or rain made a muddy spot for daddy but the girls didn't mind. Since we had a snow-free window of over a month, the first few flakes sent them scurrying around the yard for sure!
We circled all the vehicles and put the muddy tools away just in time for that January wind to pick up. I got the frozen noses and toses some cocoa and we headed inside. I can't wait to grow our little grove of Pokeys.
