Cookie Day '12

Cookie day is always a time our family looks forward to and this year did not disappoint!!
Eric and I tried to get the girls down for naps or quiet time before the bakers arrived--and Still Shari showed up ready to bake before 1 :)
We got started on chocolate chip and before I knew it, Kortney had arrived and was diving into no bakes and oreo balls.
Carolyn showed up and started on some yummy smelling lemon brownies just in time to help Amanda with her minty grinch sugar cookies with andes mints and green food coloring!
As the number of kids grew, so did our cookie display.

Mom brought her always famous sloppy joes--which everyone dove right into, and

Val brought Lucas and Maxton with her and got to catch up with Casey as the two jumped in on turtles and buckeyes...

...and Megan and Tony brought her grandma's molasses sugar cookie recipe from WAY back in the day!

Loretta and I got to catch up a little while Peter and Amara strung beads and made bracelets and Mallory and Mikaela enjoyed the holiday train and dolls in the living room.

Dawn's latest trial recipe for her cookie bake-off didn't disappoint and were the prettiest iced cookies, so vibrant and tasty too!

After all was said and done, Shari washed dishes at a feverish pace while Carolyn and Kortney finished dipping Oreo balls and cleaning up, and everyone left with a full plate of cookies and another year of smiles, stories, and wine.

We actually had so many left over that on Sunday we drove around town and gave some plates to some friends--Amara loves giving things to folks, so it was the perfect end to a great weekend.
