Arts in the alley: Parade

With it being SO hot this summer, and frankly, my back--we hadn't caught a whole lot of parages.  We did Memorial day and July 4th, but that was it.

Our realtor and friend, Susan was 'working' the Arts in the Alley parade as part of a fundraiser for her non-profit, so we knew all about it.  We had decided to try and go up Broadway and get a popular spot, but like my mom once said, "you can't plan when you have kids."...and right on schedule, Amara slept in WAY later than normal.

We rushed out of the house, grabbed a donut from Tim Horton's (eric's favorite, pumpkin, is in season now) and up the street, changing our plans mid-route and deciding to go to Charlotte's house.  We dropped them off coffees and headed up Columbus St. for a spot on the corner.

It was a LONG parade and we didn't even stay for all of it, but we saw 4 bands (she loved the flags), kids, floats, dogs, and got a bucket full of candy too.  Even though it was an early morning parade, she didn't last long (and that was ok by me, sitting on the pavement was rough for that long) and we headed back to Charlotte's to get the car.  Traffic was kind of dicey on the way out, but DQ had been handing out coupons in the parade, so we decided to cross back over town and grab lunch there before nap time.
