Our Christmas-sy home

Decorating this year was fun, but challenging!  Since this is the 4th house we've decorated together, we're learning each time we do it, but you also have some things that work and some that need replaced!  We tried several garlands before settling on this simple one for the stairs.

I surprised the family with getting the house lit again too--the color was supposed to be purple but it looks VERY much like red--oh well, still pretty!  The snow we got in mid December provided a nice backdrop to take photos against too.

We put some extra lights on some of the small bushes in the front too--the mini lights read purple in person, but again, really red in the photos.  Cora likes them and that's all that matters--since the purple was supposed to be for her.

Since we got our mantel up, I have been so excited to use it and decorate the family room.  The stockings have a very personal, special spot there, along with our advent tree, some quilts, and some other decorations too.

Our tree fits beautifully in the corner, which is nice since you can see it right when you drive up!  It's not the 18 ft. trees of the last few Christmas' but it's a good 10 foot and perfectly shaped without touching a single branch!

We didn't do much in the kitchen--but I wanted to at least put something on the windows--so mom helped me get these wreaths and we recycled the bows from Amara's birthday party, and used them all over the house.  I love the gold and the sparkle and they are just so cute!

The dining room was simple, but again, recycling and placement.  A garland I've loved forever is up on the china cabinet, a runner and Santa cookie plate for the table, and some more wreaths make the room cozy and inviting.

The playroom was just a few more wreaths and some small trees in the corner--anything more would have been lost in that room, so we kept it simple.

We didn't get out probably a quarter of what we have, but we'll get there.  For now this was the perfect amount of decoration for us and we have really enjoyed it this month!
