Trimming the tree

After we got our lovely tree home, we started the unpacking--first of the tree, then of the rest of the house.  Cora was starting to get tired, but Amara had all the energy of, well, of a 5 year old!

She and grandma hung the stockings (on our new mantel!!) and went from one project to the next, while daddy started on the lights.

Before we knew it, we were placing the angel with much pomp and circumstance. I'm certain an angel has NEVER been treated with as much revelry and adoration as this moment!

Amara wanted to add her own special touches too, she was very patient and deliberate with the ornaments she liked.  Placing them in esteemed locations, also visible to her.  It was very sweet to watch.
And as she's known to do, Amara made some "cards" for the tree, which she also placed on it.  Not ornaments to hang, but actual little notes for the tree.
It was a long weekend and many breaks were had, but none of us minded one second. There's nothing better than the glow of a tree in your living room and snuggling with your girlies.

Unless a bowl of popcorn is in the mix too, of course :)
