After all the Thanksgiving work and play was done, we decided to head out to our favorite tree farm in Circleville, Lands. We had decided we were going to get a ball tree, that we could plant in the yard and start a little grove for the girls, but getting there and finding out that they were only 4 ft tall, decided to actually get 2 trees.
We looked and trekked and explored places we had never been there before looking for the perfect tree. We found the ball tree we wanted quickly and got it loaded up, then it was on to the next one.
Cora and Amara took off down the big hill and we got to cross the steam and trek a bit to the bottoms of the farm. that in itself was pretty cool and gave Eric some ideas for paths he can make at our place.
Being only three weeks post surgery, we were THRILLED dad could join us, even if he was limited. We tried not to push him, but I'm sure he enjoyed stretching his legs a bit.
We finally compromised on a lovely white pine, around 9 ft, that Amara and Eric got to work cutting down. It was warm, and Eric said the bark wasn't tough at all--so it didn't take him long. Cora and grandma played hide and seek around the trees while we all stood around and watched Eric work.
Cora and Amara and I picked and collected smooth and shiny rocks in the driveway while we waited too--I think only one car came up the whole time.
Eric picked up the tree and hefted it up on his shoulder for us to go pay. UPHILL. We grabbed our traditional hot cocoa and piled into our cars to head home with our TWO trees, smiles, and chilly fingers and toes.
